LaShae is On Our Side in the Assembly
LaShae knows too many families still can’t afford to buy a home, are living paycheck to paycheck, and struggling to get ahead. That’s why, in the Assembly, she’s fighting for affordable housing that’s actually affordable, an equal education for all our children, greater access to health care and mental health care, and a safe, clean and healthy environment.

LaShae serves us on 13 Standing Committees, Subcommittees, and Select Committees, including the Aging and Long-Term Care, Budget, Health, Higher Education, and Public Safety Committees, and Select Committees on Child Care Costs, Housing Finance and Affordability, CalFresh Enrollment and Nutrition, and Transportation Costs.
Since January, LaShae has spearheaded 21 bills to improve our lives, including bills to:

Make CalWorks Work. LaShae is investing in CalWorks to help lift more families out of poverty. New funding will expand the number of people eligible for aid, reduce long wait times for processing, and allow recipients to work more hours without losing benefits.

Protect Families and Workers. LaShae is fighting to protect and expand CalFresh and guard workers from unsafe work conditions while making sure Californians are protected from punitive towing fees.

Protect and Expand DEI. At a time when the federal government is axing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs, LaShae is spearheading legislation to protect DEIAA in our state government by requiring agencies to conduct equity analyses before adopting budgets or programs.

Reform Criminal Justice. LaShae is working to reform the unfair “three strikes” law, fighting to beef up support for victims of crimes, and investing in community programs to end the school to prison pipeline.

Create a Healthier California. LaShae is working to increase research funding for Parkinson’s patients and cracking down on food packaging that’s made with toxic chemicals that increase the risk of breast cancer.

Invest in Schools. New legislation spearheaded by LaShae will give local Offices of Education more resources to increase transparency, bring more faculty representation to the CSU Board of Trustees, and help community colleges and Continuing Education Centers better support students with disabilities.
